14 injured in Bauchi auto crash – FRSC confirms


Fourteen persons on Tuesday sustained varying degrees of injury in a ghastly auto crash involving three vehicles at Tasha Saleh village on the Bauchi-Jos highway.

Confirming the accident to journalists in Bauchi, the Sector Commander, Bauchi State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Abdullahi, informed that of the three vehicles, two were commercial vehicles while the remaining one was a private vehicle.

The sector commander said the vehicles involved were an ash-coloured Opel Vectra saloon, with registration number: AA421KRF; a blue DAF articulated truck with registration number: GME 715XX and a red Mercedes Benz 190 with no registration number.

Abdullahi informed that 15 passengers, all male adults, were involved in the accident, adding that only one person escaped unhurt.

The injured persons, the sector commander further informed sustained bruises, deep cuts and fractures in the crash, saying that the probable cause of the accident was dangerous overtaking.

He added that all the injured passengers were taken to the Toro General Hospital in Toro, the headquarters of Toro Local Government Area of the state for treatment.
