The Nigerian government said it has allocated N112 billion to finance its National Plan for Safe Schools initiative over the next three years.
The Minister for Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, disclosed in a statement to mark Universal Children’s Day 2024.
According to her, the initiative is part of efforts to safeguard learning environments in Nigeria.
She stressed that the government has made significant progress in advancing children’s rights in past years.
“Through the National Plan for Financing Safe Schools, over N112 billion has been allocated to safeguard learning environments over the next three years, ensuring that schools remain safe and inclusive spaces for all children,” she said
