Tension in Ogun LG as inauguration, appointment of Leader of House turn violent

The inauguration of councillors of Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State turned violent as the legislator representing Ward 15, Ilewo/Isaga in the local government, emerged as the leader of the house.

Saga Gist reports that upon his decoration as the Leader of the House and having delivered his acceptance speech, police officers allegedly attached to the council chairman, Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, started shooting sporadically in front of the chambers, causing party members present to run for their safety.

According to sources within the local government, nine of the 16 legislators in the local government are in support of Erubami.

An eyewitness who spoke under anonymity disclosed that the chairman’s boys, Agbara Kazeem and Solomon Akinbo, an APC youth leader and his S.A. on Media invaded the legislative chambers and carted away the maze.

Saga Gist recalls that a crisis has rocked the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abeokuta North over who becomes the Leader of the House in the legislative arm of the council.

According to the current permutation, it’s the turn of the Oke-ogun community, where Erubami hails from, to produce the leader of the house.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach the chairman, Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo proved abortive, as he did not respond to messages or calls as of the time of filing this report
