Arab nations trust Russia – Putin

 

The countries in the Middle East consider Russia a trustworthy partner, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan.

Taking questions from the press after completing a state visit, Putin confirmed Moscow’s continued cooperation with Arab colleagues on the Gaza issue and the recognition of a state of Palestine.

Russia will likely play a key role in working groups to be established in furtherance of President Donald Trump’s peace plan, humanitarian relief, and post-ceasefire governance, security, and reconstruction.

“We have a very high level of trust with our Arab friends and with Palestine,” Putin said. “If our friends think it might help, we will always be ready to take part in this process.”

Russia and a plethora of other nations are demanding the establishment of an independent Palestine, but the possibility is subject to significant reforms and regional cooperation.

Asked how he marked his birthday on October 7, Putin recalled meeting with the commanders of forces active in Ukraine at the Peter and Paul Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, where they laid flowers at the tomb.

The Russian leader noted that the session, which provided him with an opportunity to listen to the situation at each section of the front, was followed by a luncheon with the military heads.

Revealing the “special value” gifts he got, the president informed reporters that one of the commanders gave him two life-saving icons that servicemen had on them at the battlefront.

“The icons were indented by bullets, and the soldiers sent them to me as a present,” he said. “I am very grateful to them; I will make sure to talk to them. And may the Lord protect them as he did before.”
