Across Israel, families and friends of hostages freed from Hamas captivity are gathering with a mix of joy, relief, and nervous anticipation as their loved ones make their way home.
In the southern town of Dimona, relatives and supporters of Segev Kalfon, who was abducted from the Nova music festival, erupted in cheers outside the family’s bakery as news of his expected release spread.
Many waved Israeli flags and sang in celebration while anxiously awaiting confirmation of his safe return.
In Re’im, Tal Kuperstein, the father of hostage Bar Kuperstein, also taken from the Nova festival, waited quietly for his son’s arrival.
Kuperstein, who has been recovering from a cerebral incident suffered during surgery after a car accident prior to October 7, said he has worked tirelessly to regain his ability to walk and speak again in anticipation of this moment.
Speaking to Channel 12, his sister Ora said Tal appeared calm but deeply emotional. “He says he’s okay, not excited yet,” she noted. “He has tears of happiness.”
The return of the hostages marks an emotional day for Israeli families who have endured two years of anguish since their relatives were taken captive during the Hamas-led attacks of October 2023
