There was mild drama on Tuesday at Abeokuta, Ogun state capital when some old students of Stephen Centre International School and Home, Obantoko accused the Director, Rev. Isaac Oluwole Newton-Wusu of molesting, raping and drugging them in other to take canal advantage of them.
The students simply identified as Deborah and Jones described their experience with the as a night mare that keep hunting even after they have graduated from the school.
The students alleged that the Director always drugged and take advantage of them, adding that he always force his way on whosoever fail to comply with him.
Deborah while recounting her experience said the director has been having canal knowledge of her since she was in JSS 2 at the age of 13.
Deborah also said it was the director that forcefully deflower at that tender age, saying that she is always unconscious until the deeds is done.
She alleged that the director always drugged her and kissed her as well as having canal knowledge of her anytime he wishes.
She recounted her experience, “From the beginning, I did not know he has ulterior motives. He always buy goodies for me and I thought he just like me, until the day he called me that I should come to his house. I did not see anything wrong in it because he was my Director, but when I got to his house he ask me to take my bath and it was when I went to take my birth that I became unconscious.
“I was in JSS 2 then, and I was 13-years old and he having been taking advantage of me since then till I graduated”.
Also speaking with news men, Jones said the director always find a way of assaulting victims even if they fail to comply with him.
While recounting her own experience, she said she was mostly forced to have sex with him because she did not always fall for the tactics he used for most of them.
However, the old students under the auspices of Concerned Past Students of Stephen Children Home (COPASSTECH) has called on all government organisations, ministries in charge of orphanage homes and schools, Non Governmental Organisations in charge of child protection "our international donors and those within the nation to please rise to the occasion and save the future of the home and school".
The Old students also lamented over the poor welfare package of the home being given to the students which they insisted still persists till today.
Speaking at a Press Conference held at Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State chapter's Secretariat, Iwe-iroyin, Abeokuta the National Coordinator of COPASSTECH, Mr. Ado Nicodemus Baggibawa said they have lost six students in just few years due to total negligence and poor health care facility in spite all the funds donated by charity foundations both home and abroad.
He said donations the school received from USA, Netherland, Australia, Canada, Poland and Nigerian Churches for the same project were not duly expended on the students.
Baggibawa also called for total overhauling and restructuring of the school to meet the intended goal and the law of the land, insisting on a close monitoring of the system by the supervisory government bodies such as ministry of education and the ministry of human affairs and other relevant bodies.
The Coordinator advocated for a public hearing of some of these matters on the floor of national assembly or the state house of assembly to " provide a wide spread platform for fair hearing and serve as deterrent to many who use our predicament for exploitation".
"We also call on the African Union, United Nations, and International human rights bodies to look into the exploitation of the funding foreign bodies who may have accrued funds with out stories and did not deliver same to the right course"
His words: "Finally, the press release is our only avenue to voice our concern, seek for justice and continuity of the Stephens Children Home / School in a manner that will provide sanity and true productivity. We have no strength or any ability to confront the director in anyway.
"Therefore, we seek for the active involvement of the civil rights society organisation and relevant government authorities to come to our aid".
When contacted on phone, the Director, Newton-Wusu described the allegation as plans to remove him as the director of the home.
He said " They are sponsored and it is a plan to remove me as the Director of the home. I can't comment because the case is in court".
