N/Assembly in emergency Executive Joint Session


The two chambers of the National Assembly has commenced an emergency executive joint session on Tuesday.
The session which agenda is still unknown is still ongoing as at the time of this report..
Both chambers of the National Assembly upon resumption on Tuesday, adopted the votes and proceedings of the previous legislative day and proceeded into the session.
A source in the National Assembly could not disclose the issues being discoursed at the session.
However, in recent times, there have been no love lost between the Executive and the Legislature.
The relationship between the duo had dropped to it lowest ebb with the both chambers separately threatening to impeach the President of the nation over the purchase of a fighter jet without due approval.
On many occasions, the Legislature had called the attention of President Muhammadu Buhar to the fragrant disregard of the parliament by some Executive actors including the DG of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu: Comptroller General of the Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali and most recently, the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris.
A high level delegation of the Legislature had met with President Buhari over some of the issues.
On Monday, allegations were rife that officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), deployed to provide security to the President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, were withdraws, an allegation which the DSS has neither corroborated nor refuted.
However, another report had it the the withdrawn security operatives had been restored.
