Meet Oluyemi Idowu; financial expert, industrialis, real estate supremo and CEO of Aircom Nigeria Limited


Oluyemi Idowu is a financial expert, entrepreneur, industrialist, real estate supremo and philanthropist. He was born on December 3rd, 1968 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria to Late Chief (Dr.) Nathaniel Olabiyi Idowu (OFR), the Mayeloye and the Okanlomo of Ibadan land. 

Yemi Idowu spent his early life in the United Kingdom. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Accounts and Financial Analysis from the Newcastle upon Tyne University, England. He also attended the Harvard Business School for an Executive Education Program and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Newcastle.

At the end of his studies, Yemi worked as a Business Development Manager for Africa and the Middle East at Anglo European Equipment, London. He founded Aircom Nigeria Limited in 1992 and is currently the managing director.

Idowu serves as the Chairman of Sterling Capital Markets Limited. He also serves as a Board Member of several successful Nigerian companies such as Ferodo Nig. Limited and Communications Associates of Nigeria Ltd. Mr. Idowu served as a Non-Executive Director of NBM Bank. He served as Non-Executive Director of Sterling Bank Plc. since December 22nd, 2005 until July 2014. He is a Member of the Institute of Personnel Management, United Kingdom.

He also sits on the governing council of the Bank Directors Association of Nigeria. He also serves as Chairman Leyland Busan Motor Company and is a Director of the Lagos Junior League and current Chairman of Nathaniel Boys Football Club. He has a huge real estate portfolio around Lekki & Ajah, Lagos. He has built Friends Colony, Northern Foreshore, Milveston Court and Bourdill Courts to mention just a few.

Idowu has been a sports lover all his life. During his studies, he was an active sports player. Years later, he has been at the front of philanthropy and grassroots sports development. 

Amongst other appointments, he was appointed Board Chairman of the Nigerian Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM) in November 2012.
