Meet Oritsegbugbemi Fregene; Celebrity chef and Founder of DVARD


Oritsegbugbemi Fregene is one of the young Nigerians who have made culitery art cool in Nigeria. Fregene (popularly known as Chef Fregz) was born on February 25th in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian chef and Knorr Taste Quest Judge.

Gbugbemi grew up in Benin City, Edo State, and went to secondary school in Osun State Olashore International School. He thereafter, enrolled at Covenant University in Otta, Ogun State, from where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. 

After leaving Otta, Chef Fregz launched a small barbeque and mini catering service called DVARD. He then moved to Paris, France, where he received a diploma in Cuisine from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute. 

After receiving his diploma, Gbubemi worked as an intern at the Prestigious Market Restaurant, Paris between November 2010 and February 2011. Due to his hard work and skill, he became the only one of that batch of interns that was retained in the restaurant’s employ after the internship period. 

On his return to Nigeria, he created the Chef Fregz brand out of a need for the young chef to communicate and connect with the upwardly mobile crowd which he has serviced hitherto. He is one of the young Nigerians who has made the culinary art cool in Nigeria. 

The brand has grown to the point where we have our space and have product lines like our canapés, our private dinners, catering and consultation work.

The Sous chef has catered at weddings, birthdays and several notable events in Lagos and holds a monthly special called 'Chef Fregz Special' .He also writes a cuisine column for Bella Naija. He is also a The Samsung ambassador.
