Ogun NIPR Focuses on Strengthening Institutional Building at 2019 Colloquium


Strengthening Nigeria's weak institutions will be the focus of discourse at the 5th edition of the Annual  Colloquium of the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Venue is the Cinema Hall, Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Kuto, Abeokuta by 10:00 am.

According to a release signed by the Secretary of the Chapter, Mr Nureni Bakenne, the theme paper entitled: "Strengthening Nigeria's Institutions: PR Dimensions" will be delivered by the duo of the professional Public Speaker, Trainer and Author, Mr. Abiodun Fijabi and  former Managing Director of Daily Times Nig. Plc., Araba Tola Adeniyi.

According to Bakenne, the Chapter considered the theme based on the topicality of the issue and the dire need for Nigerians to start making efforts towards building and strenghtening  its institutions in order to promote sustainable development.

He further said that it is no longer news that most developing countries, including Nigeria have weak institutions but with strong leaders that have impeded their development.

It would be recalled that the yearly colloquium has become one of the notable platforms and flagship programmes of the Chapter for cross-fertilisation of ideas among professionals, government at all levels, policy makers, organised private sectors and the academia among others.

The Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of NIPR, Mr. Lekan Togunwa will bring major stakeholders together at  this year's colloquium which is a yearly tradition of the Chapter, thereby,  bringing the town and gown together to deliberate on good governance in the country. 

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the occasion and Special Panel Moderator is an erudite scholar and former Dean, School of Communication, Lagos State University,  Prof. Lai Oso while other discussants include the  Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bashir Makama; NSCDC Commandant in Ogun State, Hammed Abodunrin;  Mr. Akin Okudero, FNIPR, PR Professional;
Mr. Kola Olugbodi from  Background Check International; Veteran Journalist,
Mr. Eddy Aina and Mr. Akolawole Shoremi, from the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince  (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, MFR will be the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion while the Chief Host is the National President and Chairman of the Council of NIPR,  Mr. MukhtarZubairu Sirajo.
