Boko Haram kills 92 soldiers near Nigerian border




Boko Haram has killed no fewer than 92 Chadian soldiers.
The terrorists also destroyed dozens of vehicles and stole weapons.
The assault occured in Boma, Lac Province, which borders Niger and Nigeria.
President Idriss Deby on Tuesday, called it the deadliest-ever attack by Boko Haram on the country’s military forces.
“We lost 92 of our soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers. It’s the first time we have lost so many men,” Deby said after visiting the site of the incident.
The attack, it was gathered, lasted hours and reinforcements sent to assist the troops were also killed or injured.
The Boko Haram sect, in a similar manner, killed scores of Nigerian soldiers.
Coordinator, Directorate of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General John Enenche, said the ambush occurred between on March 23.
He disclosed that troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE were on clearance and fighting patrol operation to Gorgi in Borno State.
“During a consolidation operation, the troops were ambushed by elements of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT). Sadly, the Nigerian military suffered some casualties in the unfortunate attack,” Enenche confirmed.
Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, remains elusive despite a $7million bounty on him.
He was on June 21, 2012 designated a Global Terrorist by the United States.
