Eid al Fitr: Muslims ordered to pray at home




The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara Traditional Council, Suleiman Sulu-Gambari, has directed all Muslims in the state to observe the Eid prayers at home.
He told them to keep off praying grounds in compliance with the government’s directives and expert advice on coronavirus.
Abdullahi AbdulHameed, the Chief lmam of Ilorin, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on behalf of the Emir.
AbdulHameed is the Vice-Chairman, Council of Ulamas in Ilorin Emirate.
He explained that the directive was to ensure continued maintenance of social distancing rules.
The cleric enjoined Muslims to observe the two raka’at supererogatory Eid prayers in their various homes with their family members without delivering sermons.
“The giant stride at combating the spread of Coronavirus in Kwara, His Royal Highness, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, in his capacity as the Vice President of the Jamatul Nasril lslam directs all Muslims to make sacrifices by keeping off from Eid praying grounds on Sallah day,” AbdulHameed said.
Chairman of the Kwara Muslim Council, Justice Salihu Olohuntoyin-Mohammed, gave the same advice.
The former Kwara Grand Khadi appealed to Nigerians to always ensure peaceful coexistence.
“Nigerians must comply with all the rules by NCDC on control of spread COVID-19 and maintain peaceful coexistence for more development to be recorded,” he said.
