Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, a chieftain of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has warned the Federal Government to jettison the plan to launch Operation Crocodile Smile, describing it as an action capable of ending the existence of Nigeria within one month.

Igboayaka gave the warning in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

He warned that the Army has no business on the internal affairs of the country, but should take charge of the Nigerian borders.

The Ohanaeze chieftain re-emphasized that protests by the youths is the most important time in the history of Nigeria, stressing that the youths should not miss the opportunity to set things right.

Saga Gist recalls that Nigerian Army had announced its intention to launch the military operation from 20th Oct. to 31st Dec. 2020 aimed at tackling kidnapping and banditry across the country.

But, according to Igboayaka, “the Nigerian government wants to use the army to harass and cow the youths into terminating the protest abruptly, saying that the United Nations’ law has a provision that any country that sustained a peaceful protest or mass resistance up to a month, the UN army will intervene in such country for peacekeeping mission, which in the case of Nigeria, may lead to referendum or possible restructuring.”

He encouraged the youths to continue with the protest and never relent or feel discouraged on the clamour for good governance in the country.

Igboayaka further warned the government against arresting youths engaged in protests or attempting to bribe anyone, saying that the End SARS protesters have no leaders or organizers.

He attributed the ongoing protests to the manifestation of accumulated injustices in Nigeria from 1960 till date.

Igboayaka restated that Nigeria has reached its peak for restructuring by going back to regional government.
