Despite the fact that Oba Rauf Olayiwola Adedeji II, Akinrun of Ikirun has joined his ancestors, commercial and everyday activities still carried on as usual in the ancient town.
A reporter who visited the town, Thursday, observed that unlike other towns where some activities would be put on hold for the demise of a traditional ruler, they was no observance of such.
The popular Alamisi market, which holds every Thursday and others in the town, still opened for commercial activities.
The only place where there was signs that the traditional monarch had passed on was at the palace.
Sources revealed that immediately the news of the demise of the first class monarch leaked to town, throng of sympathisers began to gather at the Akinrun’s palace.
The atmosphere at the palace betrayed emotions as many of them wore gloomy faces.
The palace chiefs and family members declined to speak, maintaining that doing so would go contrary to their customs and traditions.
Accordingly, the members of the late monarch’s immediate family had been given permission within days to vacate the palace.
It was not sure if the State Government has been notified as the palace secretary was no where to be found.
