EPL: Ian Wright names two best players for Arsenal in 3-3 draw with West Ham

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has identified Martin Odegaard and Calum Chambers as the best players on the pitch for the Gunners in their 3-3 draw with West Ham United on Sunday.

Arsenal were 3-0 down within the opening 32 minutes, with goals from Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek for the home side.

Gunners fought back to earn a point at the London Stadium after the west London side conceded 2 own goals from Tomas Soucek and Craig Dawson and Alexandre Lacazette equalising for the visitors.

Chambers spent a year sidelined with an ACL injury and only returned to action in December but played a key part in the two own goals conceded by West Ham with his excellent service from right.

And Odegaard, loaned in from Real Madrid was also bright, and Wright urged Arsenal to make his loan deal from the Spanish club permanent in the summer.

“Chambers…Martin Odegaard is somebody that they need to make sure they make that signing if they can. Because he really did come to the fore today,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“What you want to see from him [Odegaard] is a player that has got unbelievable potential and ability and you want to see him in a game like that where he’s going to be in the meat and bones of the game where he’s got to pick the ball up and does what he does.

“He wants the ball and plays it, he’s very efficient with it. He did it in a game where Arsenal needed it.

“Like we saw on so many occasions he chose the right pass, fantastic today. He was magnificent.”

On Chambers, Wright added: “We’re talking about somebody who’s not long come back from an ACL and that is tough to come back from that kind of injury, he’s been working hard.

“What’s great about Mikel Arteta is that he will give you a chance, he’s given him a chance. The Burnley game he was brilliant, same thing with this game he’s come in, he’s staking a claim.

“That’s what Arsenal need, they need that kind of player in the backup position who will come in and do a job like that, brilliant today.”
