Intl Women Day: Stop bickering, embrace peace, pursue emancipation - Archibong to women

Nigerian women have been urged to shun bickering and embrace peace and love as a panacea for emancipation ahead of the 2023 elections.

A former Commissioner for Information and Orientation, in Cross River, Mrs Rosemary Archibong, in an exclusive chat with our correspondent regretted the inability of women to truly attain independence.

She was commenting on the 2021 International Women’s Day celebrations across the globe.

Mrs Archibong said, women, have not arrived, noting that there are yet many hurdles for them to cross.

“It same old stories, importantly, cultural interference. In 2021 we are still talking about the law of inheritance. These are the things that are still a hindrance

“You also look at financial independence, if you don’t have money, it is difficult to exert authority, our father’s properties are taken, those are things that are still being a hindrance

“Women should continue to strategically place themselves in leadership, politics, you just have to strategize, I want women to be on the alert.

“Women should spread awareness and raise the consciousness of other women” Mrs Archibong pleaded.
