The next local government election in Ogun State is expected to hold on July 24, 2021.
The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), announced this on Friday, confirming that new Local Government Chairmen and Ward Councillors would be elected on that day.
Saga Gist reports that the announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of OGSIEC, Babatunde Osibodu and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.
The Chairman explained that a press briefing had been scheduled to hold on Tuesday to intimate the press of proceedings.
He said the press conference would avail OGSIEC the opportunity to unveil the electoral guidelines to all political parties and the general public.
All registered political parties participating in the election were asked to present not more than two representatives at the press briefing, in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
