Olusegun Bamgbose, the National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, has pleaded with former Army Generals, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalam Abubakar and Azuibike Ihejirika to, without further delay, rescue the country from imminent collapse

He noted that the insecurity in the country has become so worrisome and pathetic, calling on every Nigerian to be concerned about how to address the issue before it gets out of hand.

The recent attacks on our security agents are like ill wind which will blow no one any good. There is a need to prioritize the issue of insecurity.

“Our nation is gasping for breath. The Federal Government is perplexed and overwhelmed. Nigerians are living in fear of the unknown. Killings, kidnappings, abductions have become daily occurrences,” Bamgbose said on Monday.

He pointed out that the security situation has affected the economy to the extent that foreign investors are no more interested in investing in Nigeria while ethnic agitations are on the increase.

“Our unity is being threatened. After careful and critical appraisal of all these, I have come to realize the need to convene, without further delay, Security Stakeholders Summit, SSS,” the senior lawyer said.

“This is not only imperative but inevitable if we are really serious about finding a lasting solution to this perennial problem of insecurity in Nigeria.

“We need to find out the immediate and remote causes of insecurity in Nigeria. We must have to do this without further delay.

“Enough of independent views on how to end the insecurity, we need to be organized and come together to brainstorm on how we can quickly put an end to this menace before it will consume our nation.

“I shall strongly advise Olusegun Obasanjo, Abubakar and Azuibike Ihejirika to go ahead and convene the Stakeholders Summit without further delay.

“They should not allow our country collapse while they are still alive. I’ll expect Pa Olusegun Obasanjo to spearhead this. He is no doubt a nationalist of repute.

“The pan socio-political groups should be carried along. I sincerely believe this will be very helpful in ending the spate of insecurity in Nigeria.”
