Two drug peddlers arrested in Jigawa

 

Two suspected drug peddlers have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State.

Mr Adamu Shehu, NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, on Tuesday said the suspects, aged 20 and 22, were arrested when it raided the Kanya Babba village’s weekly market.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the sale and use of items suspected to be marijuana and psychotropic substances.

His arrest also led to the apprehension of another, aged 22, who is alleged to be the major dealer and supplier of the illicit substances.

Shehu said at the time of arrest, the 22-year-old suspect was in possession of 525 tablets of ENZHEK-5, also known as D5, 88 wraps and two blocks of cannabis (hemp), 13 pieces of rubber solution, popularly known as ‘Sholi’.

Other items with him included one mobile phone (itel), wristwatch, amulets and N4,140 cash.

He added that the suspects have confessed to the crime and would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
