Tanker explosion at OPIC plaza tragic - Ogun govt


The Ogun State Government, owners of the OPIC Plaza in Ikeja where a tanker exploded Thursday night, has expressed sadness over the incident.

Abiodun Fari-Arole, Managing Director, Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) issued a statement on Friday.

The Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on OPIC said the management is shocked and saddened by the tragedy.

Fari-Arole noted that preliminary report shows there are casualties and serious injuries. The wounded are receiving treatment.

The official expressed condolences to families of the victims.

He commended the efforts of the Fire Service to get the situation under control.

“We also appreciate the efforts of security officials who did not allow hoodlums to take advantage of the incident.”

Fari-Arole said it is early to speculate on the general impact and that OPIC management will await the report of the investigation.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed that three bodies have been recovered from the scene.
