A chieftain of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Oyo State, Engineer Oyedele Hakeem Alao has advised President Muhamadu Buhari and Governor Seyi Makinde of the State, to without wasting more time, improve surveillance and intelligence gathering in Igangan and other parts of the State.

Alao also advised Buhari and Makinde to tighten security in Igangan and other parts of the State.

Alao, who contested gubernatorial election on the platform of AD in 2019, maintained that this was necessary to halt incessant killings of innocent citizens in the area.

Saga Gist recalls that about twenty people (20) were killed when some gunmen invaded Igangan in Ibarapa North local government area last month.

Similarly, three people were killed when some customs officials engaged some suspected smugglers in the town on Friday.

Alao, while reacting, called on the federal government and the Oyo State government led by Engineer Seyi Makinde to improve surveillance and intelligence gathering.

The AD chieftain in the statement signed by his Media Aide, Omotayo Iyanda on Tuesday, enjoined the people of the State to celebrate Eld-Kabir in peace by averting all activities and temptations that could run the country aground.

“I call on governments at all levels to sincerely bring down those visiting evils on the people of the axis by improving surveillance and intelligence gathering and tightening security in the area. I frown at the incessant killings in Igangan, which seem like a reprisal.

“It was wrong and evil for any man to be killing his fellow humans, particularly in a season as Eid-el-Kabir.

“I enjoin the people of Oyo State to celebrate in peace by averting all activities and temptations that could run the country aground and observe Covid-19 protocols strictly so as to witness another.

“I appeal to Nigerians to celebrate this year’s eid in peace, considering all sorts of killings and heinous crimes in the land and fragile point at which the country had found itself,” he stated.
