Osun APC caucus demands credible congress

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, The Osun Progressives (TOP) has charged members of the party to turn out in large numbers for Saturday’s scheduled ward congress in the State.

The Chairman of the group, Reverend Adelowo Adebiyi gave the charge at a weekly meeting of the caucus in Osogbo, on Friday.

Adebiyi, who is the pioneer chairman of the APC in Osun, emphasised the need for members to be of exemplary character during the congress.

He urged them to shun actions which could cause disruption of the election proceedings and asked them to resist such from any other group or caucus trying to do same.

According to Adebiyi, “It is a duty you owe the genuine progressives to ensure that men with character, capacity and compassion are elected to steer the affairs of the party aright.

“It is the choice of men with right presence of mind and strong political will that would recreate and strengthen the APC for future greatness of winning elections without stress.

“I urge all members of APC to arrive their ward collation centres early on Saturday to cast their votes for all the already carefully chosen candidates of the TOP Caucus in all wards to suite the needed characteristics that will bring out the best for a rebranded Osun APC.

“I also urge you to keenly follow through the directives and procedures of the National Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning committee on the Congress as some other caucus such as IleriOluwa have clearly been circumventing them.”

While expressing hope that the party can serve its purpose as an election winning platform, Adebiyi called on the National Congress Committee not to submit to the ambush of the government machinery but to exercise judicious fairness, equity and justice in the conduct of the congress.

Saga Gist had earlier reported that the APC in Osun through its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi had called on TOP to remove its doubt on the party congress which begins today, Saturday.

Oyatomi in an official statement had assured that the congress will be peacefully, successfully and transparently conducted for everyone to see.
