APC urges DSS, Police to Rescue abducted Senator in Akwa Ibom

 

The All Progressives Congress, Akwa Ibom State has urged the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of its abducted member, Senator Nelson Effiong.

It could be recalled that Mr. Effiong was on Sunday, September 5, 2021, kidnapped by gunmen at his lounge at Oron road, Uyo.

The kidnappers are yet to contact the family for any possible ransom negotiation.

APC through a release by the Secretary, Nkereuwem Enyongekere on Tuesday said the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen was worried about the incident and has called for the rescue of the Senator and the arrest of the perpetrators

According to the release, “Our party has been very worried and distressed to learn of the kidnap of Sen. Nelson Effiong, one of our strong Chieftains who is also the immediate past Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State.

“Today, the CTC Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen has on behalf of the party urged the DSS, the Nigerian Police Force and other security outfits in the State to urgently swing into action to bring him back home safe while ensuring that those behind this dastardly act are made to face the full wrath of the law.”

The statement advised Sen. Effiong’s family to avail the police and other relevant security agencies required information that would aid his fast rescue from the kidnappers’ captivity.

It added that the party would do everything within its powers to secure his release even as it urged the party faithful not to relent in praying for him.
