Eight days in captivity - Fmr Senator Effiong family yet to be contacted

 

Eight days after the abduction of former Senator, Nelson Effiong was abducted by suspected gunmen, his family is yet to be contacted.

Recall that the former senator who represented Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, was on September 7, 2021, kidnapped by suspected gunmen at his lounge located along Oron Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.

Many customers at the lounge were also injured during the attack

However, eight days after the incident family members of the former lawmaker are yet to hear from his abductors.

The younger brother to the Eyoh Effiong when contacted expressed worry that his family was yet to be reached by the hoodlums.

He said “The people that abducted him have not contacted us yet. We are hoping that maybe within this week we will hear from them(abductor), but for now nothing, we have not heard anything.”

It was gathered that the police is yet to make any arrests regarding the incident even as it had promised to launch a manhunt to trail the hoodlums.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon when contacted assured the family and the general public that the command would spare no efforts in the trail the hoodlums saying, “we are yet to make any arrests, the command is still investigating”
