The leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State chapter, has accused the Imo State Government led by Senator Hope Uzodinma and the leadership of Petroleum Tanker Drivers’ Association of turning deaf ear to the confronting hardship and sufferings of Imo people.

The party said Gov Uzodinma and oil marketers should take notice of their intention to approach a court of competent jurisdiction if at the end of business on Friday, 17th September, 2021, the situation persists.

In a release signed by the APGA state chairman, Hon John Iwuala on Wednesday, the party said at the beginning of this strike action embarked upon by the drivers, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State Chapter warned and threatened court action, lamenting the effect of hardship this action will bring to the masses.

APGA said the party may use court order to confiscate and auction all hoarded Petroleum products around Imo, prosecute offending drivers.

According to the party, “Whereas the PTDA and the state Government under the watch of Gov Hope Uzodinma have vehemently decided to play the I don’t care approach towards the sufferings of Ndimo.

“Whereas the Petroleum marketers have exonerated themselves from this hoarding of products and the forceful act on the masses to buy from the stations at Black market prices. As recorded at their radio program outing at Darling 107.3 Fm Owerri yesterday, 14-09-2021.

“Whereas also that the present APC Government of the state has found it difficult to call the situation to order by doing the needful and letting the situation degenerate into a perpetual sufferings and hardship borne by the ordinary citizens of Imo State, which APGA cannot tolerate any longer.”

“The Imo State Chapter of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as the only current political mouthpiece of Ndimo today have decided to take the bull by the horn as this press release stands to serve as a Pre-Action notice to both the Govt and the leadership of Petroleum Tanker Drivers’ Association, PTDA.

“The auctioning of such products at a give away price, arrest and immediate prosecution of all the drivers for unlawfully hoarding of petroleum products and causing panic buying thereof.

“An order of the court stopping all payments in form of taxations to the state Govt by all filling stations across the state for a year as well as reduction of pump prices for buyers to recoup what was extorted from them within the period in view.

“An order of the court restraining the govt of imo state, either by themselves, representatives, agents or proxy to harrass any filling station owner by way of collecting taxes, revenues etc within the running period of one year.

“We, the leadership, members and supporters of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA Imo State are doing this just to save our dear people of Imo State from this man-made artificial scarcity, which has imposed heavy hardship and sufferings on our people.

“Imo State is not a cursed state and therefore, we should never allow the govt and some certain individuals being manipulated by certain people allergic to peaceful coexistence to destroy the peace of Ndimo.”
