A suspected armed robber, Rotimi Ojugbele was on Monday arrested by the police in Ogun State while he was reportedly returning from a robbery operation along Ilaro/Owode Yewa road.

Ojugbele was said to have been arrested when the DPO of Ilaro division, CSP, Olayemi Jacob, was with his team on an early morning patrol around 6:30.

Confirming the arrest, the Ogun police PRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “while on the road, two men on motorcycle with one of them carrying a bag were accosted for a stop and search, and immediately they were stopped, one of them jumped down and took to his heels while the other one was quickly apprehended.”

On searching the suspect’s bag, Oyeyemi informed that two locally-made pistols, nine live cartridges, one Samsung Galaxy S8, two small Intel phones, two wraps of Indian hemp, one white wristwatch and a cash sum of N460 were found.

Oyeyemi hinted that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun had ordered the transfer of the suspect to the State CIID for discreet investigation, adding that the escaped suspect would be hunted for.
