The Osun State Police Command has paraded five suspects for various crimes ranging from armed robbery, shoplifting, suspected murder, membership of secret cults and theft.

According to the command, the suspects, Saheed Lukman, 32; Adegoke Adeniyi, 35; Adeshina Olaide, 30; Akinlabi Toyese, 37; and Nurudeen Azeez, 35, were arrested in different parts of the state by men of the command.

While parading the suspects in Osogbo, the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, explained that in the case of the armed robbery suspects, Akinlabi and Nurudeen, the duo had been arrested with one locally-made revolver and one live ammunition after they blocked one Abdulafeez Soliu Ishaq with a motorcycle and robbed him of a bag containing an international passport, two POS machines, three phone accessories on the 26th of August, 2021 in Iwo.

The Police boss also stated that they were arrested by members of the local vigilante and the items stolen were valued at N570,000:00.

Olokode also disclosed that Saheed and Adeolu were arrested with one expended AK47 ammunition, a Nigerian Army Identity card, an empty cartridge and a dagger after the duo conspired and broke into a phone accessories shop which belonged to Ekundare Temitope at Conoil Filling Station, Roundabout, Ilesa on 10th June 2021.

According to Olokode, “They made away with handsets valued about N11,880,000.00. The two suspects were arrested and confessed to being members of the Eiye Confraternity. In the course of searching the house of the suspects, one empty AK47 ammunition shell and empty cartridge together with one Nigeria Army I.D card with other incriminating items were recovered in their possession.

“They are also suspected to have killed a man whose identity is unknown but suspected to be a rival cult group member. The investigation is still ongoing while the suspect will be charged to court at the completion of the investigations.”

The Command also paraded Adesina Olaide for theft who was arrested by the police surveillance patrol team along Ayetoro area of Osogbo while carrying a generator on 18th September 2021.

During interrogation, he confessed to being a staff and had stolen the generator from the shop which belonged to his former boss, Adesokan Kehinde.

Olokode however revealed that the investigation was still ongoing and after its conclusion, the suspects would be charged to court.

He also assured members public of their safety, adequate protection and also enjoined them to be wary of youths with bags slung across their neck as the bags contained many dangerous items.

He also revealed that effective patrol, information and stop and search, with visibility of police at strategic junctions have assisted tremendously in not only checkmating occurrence of crimes and criminalities but also in the detection and arrest of culprits.
