The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Jigawa State Council, has called on the state government to fill in the vacancies in the education and health sectors created by the retiring teachers and health workers.
The State NLC chairman, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari, represented by his Vice Sunusi Abdu Kanya, made the call in a press briefing as part of the activities for the commemoration of the 2021 World Day For Decent Work.

Kanya added that lifting of an embargo on employment in critical areas will help in reducing the issue of casualisation of labour.
Saga Gist reported that about 9,000 teachers were needed for the running of schools after the massive retirement and death of the teachers across the state.
Responding to the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila, said Jigawa State Government had lifted an embargo on employment particularly in critical areas leading to the recruitment of 5,191 staff in Education, health and judiciary from 2015 to date.
He said from 2015 to date the state government has given automatic employment to 181 first class degree graduates into higher Institutions across the State.
He assured the Labour Unions in the State that the State Government will do all that is possible to ensure decent work in the state.
Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila said since the inception of the present administration, the state government has been working hand in hand with organized labour in order to move the state and the civil service forward.
