Banditry: Niger Govt reassures families of deceased security personnel of adequate care

 

The Niger State Government has reassured families of security personnel that paid the supreme price with their lives in the fight against bandits and other criminalities in the state of adequate support.

The state Commissioner for Local Governments, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Emmanuel Umar Bagna, gave the assurance during a visit to Erena community in Shiroro Local Government Area.

He also promised continued support to the security personnel, particularly in the areas of logistics and welfare to ensure optimum results.

The commissioner for LGs, who said the visit was to boost the morale of the security personnel in the Munya and Shiroro LGAs, enjoined them to remain focused and be wary of informants.

“The state government commends security operatives fighting bandits and other criminals in some parts of Shiroro and Munya Local Governments for their gallantry. Efforts are on by the state government in contending with security challenges and more strategies are being evolved to end insecurity. And, the government is also concerned about your welfare and well-being,” he stated.

Hon Bagna further reiterated the commitment of government to securing communities affected by banditry and other criminalities in the state while, assuring that feeder roads would be provided for them to ease mobility.

Speaking, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Erena police command, Sani Garba told the Commissioner that there have been a lot of security operations going on against the bandits in the area.

He also assured that the combined security forces would not relent in their efforts to restore peace in the community and the state at large.
