AFCON: Eguavoen identifies two areas Nigeria impressed during friendly ahead of Egypt tie

Interim coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has identified two areas his team impressed during their friendly 2-0 win over Coton Sport FC on Friday.

Nigeria defeated Coton Sport FC in a friendly game ahead of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, tie with Egypt on January 11.

Goals from Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze gave Eguavoen’s side the win against the one-time Cameroonian champions.

However, Eguavoen said the Super Eagles impressed in terms of movements and ball possession against Coton Sport.

“Impressive, we played two sets of teams. First half eleven players, second half another eleven players just to see how they can fare and cope with the weather conditions,” Eguavoen told NFF TV.

“I can tell you we struggled a little bit with the weather, but in terms of ball possession and movement, I think we were very impressed.

“Winning this game is a very good thing for us.”
