Malam Ibrahim Tanko, Sarkin Hausawa of Anguwar Azara in Jere, along the Abuja-Kaduna highway on Monday, said the kidnappers of his wife and two daughters have demanded N50 million as ransom.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had on February 17, 2022, abducted Malam Ibrahim Tanko’s two wives; Maimuna Ibrahim and Hauwawu Ibrahim, and his four daughters; Aisha Ibrahim, Farida Ibrahim, Zainab Ibrahim and Hussaina Ibrahim.

Although one of the wives was set free immediately on health grounds, the abductors went away with the second wife, two daughters and some neighbours.

Tanko, who disclosed this to journalists in Kaduna on Monday, said the kidnappers called through the phone of one of his palace aides on Saturday, around 11:23 am.

According to him, the kidnappers asked him to go and source the money and bring it to them so that his wife and two daughters who are being held captive will be set free.

According to him, he told them that, he could not produce N50 million. He added that one of them insisted that he source for the money.

“Immediately after they talked about the ransom, they switched off the phone and I have not been able to reach them since Saturday morning till now,” he said.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, did not pick up his calls nor respond to text messages sent to him for comment.
