Your outburst against Gov Mohammed reckless, arrogant – Northern youths tell Okechukwu

The North-East Youth Democratic Vanguard has described the recent comment credited to the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Dr Osita Okechukwu, against Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed as reckless and arrogant.

Recall that Mohammed recently said the decision of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone its presidency to the south posed no threat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general election.

But Okechukwu said Mohammed’s argument against the party’s zoning of the 2023 presidency to the south shows the lack of dynamism in the political thinking of PDP.

However, the group in a statement jointly issued Saturday by its leaders, Mr. Istifanus Darius and Malek Zulum, said Okechukwu should desist from his unsavoury attacks on Mohammed.

The group reminded Okechukwu that his party remained in total disarray, having not elected a National Working Committee (NWC), resorting to the eternal postponement of its convention.

It noted that rather than salvage his sinking party, Okechukwu was attacking a principled leader like Mohammed whose track record of service is peerless.

It said: “The recent attacks of the DG of VON was reckless and arrogant. With a distinguished civil service career before that, Bala Mohammed also exhibited a strong record of leadership and management through diversity and gender inclusion during his tenure as FCT Minister.

“As Bauchi Governor, his transformation work is astonishing, acknowledged by his peers as revolutionary.

“To tarnish the person of Governor Bala Mohammed with words like deceitful, duplicity, selfish, and failure, is obviously Mr Okechukwu holding up a mirror to his own abject tarnished reputation.”
