2023: Frustrated hypocrite – Omokri slams Oby Ezekwesili, makes fresh claims

A popular sociopolitical activist, Reno Omokri, has slammed a former minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, describing the former presidential candidate as a frustrated hypocrite.

Recall that Ezekwesili’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, Gani Galadima, had said the former Education minister was never serious about her presidential run.

He further accused Ezekwesili of only using the party’s platform to negotiate to be Nigeria’s finance minister.

Ezekwesili quit the 2019 presidential race citing ideological differences with her estranged party, ACPN. She also said the party picked her as their candidate because they thought she had looted funds from previous administrations.

She said then that the party became ‘enemies’ with her after they noticed she had no funds and was not willing to go and obtain foreign cash to prosecute the campaign

The party demanded that Ezekwesil, return all funds generated during her campaign, accusing her of being dishonest and spending all the funds raised for the campaign on herself.

This was after the former minister had said her campaign raised only N48,957,416.00, $17,645.00, and £200, from October 1, 2018, to February 2, 2019, before she withdrew from the presidential race. And Galadima had disagreed with the figures.

But Galadima, who was also the national chairman of the party, faulted the statement of account presented by Ezekwesili, saying the party “rejects in entirety everything she submitted”.

And still nursing the pains of Ezekwesili’s campaign against the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2014, especially after the abduction of the schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, Reno Omokri has continued to find ways to hit back at the former minister.

And in his latest attack, Omokri tweeted that “Ezekwesili is a frustrated hypocrite. Gani Galadima, her confidante, exposed that her activism was only because she wanted to be Buhari’s finance minister. @elrufai’s son called her ‘beggar with receipt’. @ObyEzeks lacks the moral authority to call out anybody!

“Foreign media, like @Bloomberg and @BloombergUK, should note that @ObyEzeks was accused by her own confidante, Gani Galadima, of eyeing Emefiele and cos job. I urge them to observe whether Oby calls for Adesina’s resignation when the same scenario happened with him.”
