Bayelsa primaries: Turner emerges PDP candidate for Ogbia Federal Constituency


The incumbent Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council, Hon. Ebiyun Turner, has won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ogbia Federal Constituency.

Turner defeated three others to emerge the flagbearer of the party.

The primary election, which took place at the Ijaw House, Sani Abacha Express Way, had 41 delegates participating.

The winner, Ebiyun Turner polled a total of 16 votes to beat his closest rival, Obodor, who had 12 votes, while Iworiso Markson got 7 votes, and the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Fred Obua, had 6 votes.

Declaring the results, the returning officer, Mr. ThankGod Embilakpo, said after the fair, free and smooth contest, the aspirant with the highest votes Ebiyun Turner, with 16 votes emerged winner.

In his victory speech, Hon. Ebiyun Turner, commended the governor of the state, Gov. Douye Diri, for mentoring him and giving him all the necessary support to become who he is today as a young politician.

He thanked the entire Ogbia people and the 16 delegates who ensured they voted to seal his victory.

“For the delegates, they have done well and I want to assure them that I will not abandon them like others do, as a young man, I will change the narrative where politicians use and abandon their people.”
