Zamfara House of Assembly task residents on PVC registration


Zamfara State House of Assembly has advised the people of the State to partake in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to obtain or update their voter cards where necessary.

The advice was given by the Speaker of the House, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya and the Chairman, the State Continuous Voter Registration and Mobilisation Committee at the inaugural meeting of the committee.

Magarya while chairing the committee’s inaugural meeting emphasized the need for the citizens to ensure having their voter cards, as it will enable them to exercise their constitutional rights.

He called on the members of the main and local government sub-committees to work in collaboration with INEC officials to facilitate the smooth conduct of the exercise before the end of the limited time frame of 30th June 2022, saying their vote is their right and should be used wisely to transform the state.

The Speaker pledged the committee members‘ commitment to justify the confidence reposed on them by Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle.

He said the committee will work day and night to ensure the success of the exercise.

The Chairman of the committee said that considering the importance of the exercise, the state government has declared Monday 20th to Friday 24th June, 2022 as work free days to enable Public and Civil Servants in the State participate fully in the exercise.

Earlier in his address, the Committee Secretary and former APC Chairman, Lawal M. Liman reeled out modalities to be applied to ease the conduct of the exercise.

He said over 600 polling units are yet to take their names as they have less than 50 registered voters.

In their separate speeches, the Secretary to the State Government, Kabiru Balarabe, Head of Service, Kabiru Mohammed Gayari and State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani Maikatako, jointly assured their readiness to work towards changing the narratives of the state for the better
