ASUU strike: Idle minds are devil’s workshop – CAN warns FG, lecturers

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end the lingering strike.

The industrial action by the lecturers in public universities commenced on February 14.

CAN President, Rev. Daniel Okoh, told the Buhari administration and ASUU that allowing youths to remain at home may have consequences.

Okoh spoke at an interdenominational church service to mark the 62nd Independence Day at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

“I call on the Federal Government to do all that is necessary so that these youths will go back to the universities and engage with their studies.

“It often said that idle minds are the devil’s workshop, idle lips are his mouthpiece,” he warned.

The religious leader also charged Nigerians to participate in the 2023 general elections next year.

Okoh urged qualified citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and ensure voting.
