Nigerian singer-songwriter, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, has declared himself the poster boy of afrobeats.
He stated this while featuring as a guest on the latest episode of i-D Meets.
He said: “I see myself as the bridge to take African music to the whole world. I changed the sound. I changed the perspective. The template is mine.”
Saga Gist recalls that shortly after winning the Next Rated award at the 2019 Headies Awards ceremony, Rema declared himself the future of afrobeats.
