A popular Anioma-born Human Rights Lawyer and Convener of a pro democratic group, Anioma Democratic Youth Coalition for Good Governance (ADYC '4' GC) Wisdom Onyisi, Esq, has taken a swipe at Chief Edwin Clark while calling on him to immediately retract and withdraw his petition to the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), against Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, who is the immediate past Executive Governor of Delta State, and to futher refrain from deliberately spreading false information about the person of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
The full time practicing legal juggernaut, Wisdom Onyisi, Esq, in his Facebook Handle, he said:
"I am making this post without any iota of party, tribal or ethnic sentiment in it. I am only concerned about doing things right and allowing justice to be done."
According to him, "Earlier this week, I was completely taken aback when I read all over the internet that Chief Edwin Clark petitioned EFCC over Sen. Dr. Okowa's embezzlement of #1.7trn. So I was very eager to know how and when he did that.. Only for Edwin Clark to say that he floated a commercial Bank, Premium Trust bank, and that is how he embezzled money from the Delta State treasury. Is it even logical for an old man who before now, enjoyed a profound reference all over the state, to assert that which he is not sure of, but only that which his intuition tells him. I need Edwin Clark to know that old age is fast telling on him and the worst mistake he could make now is to be used by the opposition party in the state. In fact, he should stay as far as possible from partisan politics in the state. I am not surprised that this is coming from Chief Edwin Clark himself because I know he had candidates he supported in the 2019 and 2023, obviously against Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa's political interest and Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa defeated him and his candidate. More worrisome is that he kept doing this out of sheer ethnicity and tribalism. Again, Edwin Clark said Okowa missappropriated state funds by paying pensioners from 13% of the Derivation Funds the state received from the Federal Government. I think the major grouse of Chief Edwin Clark is that the ex-governor used a substantial amount of money to meet the demands of Deltans, like building universities, carrying out several infrastructural developments instead of 'sharing' it, as expected.
It is important to note that the universities that the ex-governor used part of the said 13% oil Derivation Funds that it got from the Federal Government to build are not all sited in Delta North. So what is the pain of Chief Edwin Clark? Why is the past government of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa a pain in the arse of Chief Edwin Clark? I think one of the university is sited in Delta North while another is sited in Delta South. Anyways, the immediate past Commissioner for Information, Sir. Charles Aniagwu had carefully replied Edwin Clark with facts that he needs to know but which he never knew before going head to write his petition, instead of him asking relevant questions.
I wouldn't like to belabour the points raised by Charles Aniagwu in his reply to Chief Edwin Clark.
I stand my ground that all that Chief Edwin Clark has been saying so far is very false and no element of truth therein, including his assertions that Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has multiple companies where he diverted the 13% Derivation Funds into. Chief Edwin Clark is a tribal bigot who has never liked Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa's government.. What happens when someone has an inbuilt hatred for you is that he sees all your succeses as acute failure. Must the 13% Oil Derivation Funds be channeled into only his community or senatorial district? Besides majority of the communities in Delta State are oil producing communities. Where we have many oil producing communities in the state and before Federal Government released the funds to State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa's government had already executed multiple projects in these state, the proper thing to do is then to used the funds which is part of the revenue in the state to meet other demands of Deltans. It must not be channeled to renovating Chief Edwin Clark's house or planting flowers in Edwin Clark's community.
I am therefore giving Chief Edwin Clark just 72 hours, starting from today, the 20th day of June, 2023 to tender an unreserved apology to a highly respected political leader and a pan-Deltan, who, in his eight years in office, took Delta State to an incredibly enviable height. I am also giving him this 72, hours ultimatum to further refrain from spreading those information, which he truly knows to be false and untrue about Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, because of his selfish political undertone. In the event of his default in complying with my demand, I shall have no other option than to proceed against him in the court of Law for publication of defamatory matters, knowing it to be false, contrary to Section 375 of the Criminal Code. The general public should take note that this post serves as a pre-action notice to him.
