Zamfara Assembly laments incessant killings, abductions by bandits


 

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has expressed deep concern over the escalating rate of bandit attacks in the state, which have resulted in merciless killings and kidnappings.

The Speaker of the House, Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, who expressed serious worry, noted that the bandits seem to act with impunity, targeting innocent citizens as if there were no government or security operatives in the state.

Addressing the House, Moriki raised questions about the unabated and relentless attacks that have spread to almost every community in the state, describing the situation as truly terrible.

In a statement signed by the Press Secretary, Zamfara State Assembly, Bello Madaro Kurya, the Speaker conveyed the complete shock and concern of the legislative body regarding the security situation in the state.

Speaker Moriki emphasised the vital role that the entire populace plays in addressing the security challenges by offering their unwavering support to the security agencies and the government in tackling these complex issues.

He commended the administration of Dauda Lawal for taking proactive measures and engaging in consultations to address the situation. He called for unity and constant prayers to find lasting solutions to the multifaceted problems.

The Speaker emphasised the crucial need for all security agencies to remain steadfast and resolute in carrying out their statutory duty of protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.
