EPL: ‘It’s like buying Fellaini again’ – Ferdinand warns Man Utd against signing midfielder

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned the Red Devils against making a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag had identified Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat as a potential new signing this summer.

But reports last week claimed Man United have now opened talks with Everton over a potential deal for Onana.

However, Ferdinand fears Onana would be ill-suited to the type of football Ten Hag is attempting to implement.

“McTominay upgrade? What is he? Tell me what he is. Onana is not a holder, he is not a destroyer,” Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.

“Every single attribute listed, that is not Ten Hag to me. Ten Hag’s about playing through the lines, playing off angles. I think he has really good attributes, but I don’t think (he’s) for Man United. It is like Fellaini; it is like buying Fellaini again for Manchester United.”
