The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has appealed for increased assistance from members of the National Assembly as the scheme offers more contributions to national development.
He said this would enable the scheme to consolidate on the achievements it recorded in the last 50 years.
Brigadier General YD Ahmed stated this when he paid advocacy visits to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth Development, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, and the Chairman, House Committee on Youth Development, Honourable Martins Esin on their assumption of office.
The Director-General, during his separate visits to both lawmakers in Abuja, congratulated them for emerging as chairmen of lawmakers that would oversee youth-related issues in the country, adding that NYSC would not relent in its contributions to national unity, socio-economic development of the country, youth empowerment and wealth creation, among others.
He opined that there is need to foster stronger relationship with the lawmakers to prioritize youth concerns in Nigeria.
In their separate remarks, Senator Adaramodu and Honourable Esin promised to provide every necessary support for an enabling environment for the scheme in the discharge of its mandate.
