Roberto Mancini resigns as Italy manager

Former Manchester City boss, Roberto Mancini, has resigned as Italy manager.

A statement from the Italian Football Federation on Sunday read in part: “The Italian Football Federation announces that it has taken note of the resignation of Roberto Mancini from the position of coach of the Italian national team, received yesterday late in the evening.”

Mancini guided Italy’s national team to victory at Euro 2020, including a third place in the Nations League in 2021 and earlier this year.

Italy are in the process of qualifying for Euro 2024 and will tackle North Macedonia and Ukraine on September 10 and 12.

They presently sit third in their qualifying group having lost to England and won against Malta in March.
