Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has urged the 36 state governors in the country to give details of how they spent the N2 billion palliative given to them by the Federal Government.
The group, in a letter dated September 9, 2023, and signed by deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, asked the governors to reveal the names of beneficiaries and details of the reliefs so far provided.
It said Nigerians are eagerly waiting to see the details of how palliative was spent because they have the right to know.
The group said by doing so, transparency and accountability would be encouraged and corruption would be reduced.
“We would be grateful if the recommended measures are taken within seven days of the receipt and/or publication of this letter,” the group said.
SERAP said that failure to do so within the time given, would make it take all appropriate legal actions to compel the governors to comply
