The Nigerian Police Force, Ogun State Command, on February 1, 2024, intercepted and handed over 34 irregular migrants to the state's Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, with a stern note referencing the escalating issue of irregular migration by the notorious Q Net.
This was revealed by the NIS in a statement on Saturday.
Through meticulous profiling, interviews, and documentation, it was revealed that the group, apprehended in Itele town of Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area, had been illegally smuggled into the country through unauthorized routes near the Seme border flanks.
The confessional statements of 32 individuals implicated BOAH BITRAYE ROLAND and GONTY MARTIAL as the primary representatives and recruiters for Q Net. Notably, all migrants held Ivorian National Identity cards, affirming their nationality.
These individuals claimed involvement in online network marketing for QNET, emphasizing a lack of tangible products for sale, except for a solitary medallion.
Their assertion that the company had not compensated them raised concerns about their financial stability in Nigeria.
According to the statement, with no visible means of livelihood, these migrants are at risk of becoming public charges and potential tools for criminal activities within the state and beyond.
The NIS therefore called for heightened vigilance and collaboration to address this pressing issue.
The irregular migrants were repatriated back to Cote- divoure today 3rd February 2024.
