Edo: Cult clash claims two lives in AAU

Two students of Edo State University, AAU, Ekpoma have been reportedly shot dead in a clash between rival cult groups in the state.

It was gathered that an official of the Students’ Union Government of the institution was a victim of the clash.

It was learnt that the killings happened last Friday.

The Students’ Union Government official was said to be a 400- Level student in the Faculty of Agriculture.

He was said to have been killed at the poultry road extension in Ekpoma.

It was further gathered that the killings in the university community happened in less than 48 hours after one Eddy was reportedly beaten and left for dead by a group of persons for allegedly purchasing items with “fake bank alert.”

The news of Eddy’s beating was said to have been misconstrued as an attack by rival cult members to the effect that he was killed.

The misrepresentation of facts, however, reportedly led to a retaliation by a rival cult group, resulting in the fatality of the two students on Friday.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the killings.

According to him, yes, the command is aware of it and an investigation is ongoing in the matter and some suspects have been arrested
