Ex-Leeds United, Tottenham midfielder Terry Yorath dies at 75

Terry Yorath, former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, has passed away at the age of 75 after a brief illness.

His family shared the news in a statement on Thursday, remembering him fondly: “To most, he was a revered footballing hero, but to us, he was Dad, a quiet, kind and gentle man.

“Our hearts are broken, but we find comfort in knowing he is with our brother, Daniel again.”

During his nine-year tenure with Leeds United in the 1960s and 70s, Yorath made nearly 200 appearances and played a key role in securing the 1974 First Division title.

Notably, he became the first Welshman to appear in a European Cup final the following year.

In addition to his club career, Yorath earned 59 caps for the Wales national team and later took on coaching responsibilities for the squad
