The Lagos State Government has debunked claims of a strained relationship between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The rebuttal was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile.
Akosile said the reports, which circulated on some blogs and online platforms, wrongly suggested a rift between the two governors.
He stated that the narrative being pushed was entirely untrue and did not reflect the existing relationship between the leaders of the neighbouring states.
According to the statement, Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun enjoy a strong and cordial working relationship, marked by regular engagements and constant communication on issues of shared interest.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Prince Dapo Abiodun share a warm, brotherly relationship. They interact frequently and collaborate on matters that promote development in Lagos and Ogun states,” the statement read.
Akosile explained that the close ties between both governors were further strengthened by the shared boundaries and socio-cultural connections between Lagos and Ogun states, making cooperation inevitable.
He warned individuals and platforms spreading what he described as falsehoods to desist from attempts to create unnecessary tension between the two leaders.
The statement stressed that both governors remain united by a common goal of improving the welfare and quality of life of residents in their respective states
