AFCON 2021: Ex-Chelsea star reacts as Nigeria defeat Egypt, speaks on Salah

Former Chelsea star, Ola Aina, has reacted to Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, 1-0 win over Egypt at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, Garoua on Tuesday.

Aina, who featured for Nigeria in the match, also described Mohamed Salah as a world-class player.

Salah was relatively quiet during the encounter until the 72nd minute when he got his first effort but was denied by goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Aina said: “Mohamed Salah wasn’t really on my side today, but sometimes we had some encounters and everyone knows he’s a world-class player, likewise the whole team is very good.”

He added, “I feel the team is very happy, we are very happy to play against Egypt, they are a tough side, they have great players, and for us to get the first three points of this tournament is very good for us.

“We just take it game by game, we have got past this game now, so we have to focus on the next game, we are going into that game with the same concentration, the same determination as we did tonight.”

Aina will hope to lead Nigeria to victory when they take on Sudan in their next AFCON tie on Saturday.
