Police kill terrorists, rescue 110 domestic animals in Katsina


 

Many terrorists have been reportedly killed while several others were injured when the police repelled an attack on Dadawa and Barkiya villages in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this in a statement, said the well-armed terrorists, no fewer than 80 in number, stormed the two communities riding on motorbikes at about 01:30 a.m Monday morning.

SP Gambo also noted in the statement that 110 domestic animals were recovered in the course of repelling the attack on the two villages.

The statement partly reads:”The command on receiving a distress call that terrorists, numbering eighty on motorbikes, armed with sophisticated weapons, simultaneously attacked the two villages, the Command deployed its tactical teams to the area and engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel.

“Many terrorists are feared to have been killed and/or fatally wounded during the encounter. A team of policemen are still combing the area with a view to arresting the wounded terrorists and/or recover their dead bodies.”

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda while appreciating the efforts of the personnel in repelling the terrorists urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing campaign against the hoodlums in the state.
