Kaduna government calls for caution amidst cash, fuel scarcity

The Kaduna State Government has appealed to its citizen to exert caution and vigilance in the wake of the untold hardship unleashed by the scarcity of fuel and naira notes.

Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, in a statement on Tuesday, said the government was aware that certain individuals and groups have made plans to organize massive protests on the basis of acute shortage of cash and attendant hardships faced by citizens.

The statement warned residents in the state not to play into the plans of devious elements seeking to create a crisis in this crucial period. It urged the residents to ignore any calls for massive protests in the interest of public security.

The statement expressed the government’s sincere empathy over the difficult situation and urged for calm and restraint as efforts continue to be made towards easing the difficulties.

“Along these lines, Governor Nasir el-Rufai on Tuesday met with the leadership of the Kaduna State Markets Traders Association, to reiterate appeals for patience and calm,” he stated.

The statement assured that legal means were being vigorously explored in tandem with other state governments, towards relieving the present sufferings, adding that the outcomes of the processes were expected imminently.
